| Resumo: | Despite being a well-established independent risk factor for drug-induced arrhythmias, female sex is vastly under-represented in both basic research and clinical studies, and thus current arrhythmia metrics, as those used in the preclinical drug development, are likely biased toward the male sex. In this talk, I will demonstrate the use of biophysically-detailed cardiac models, simulation, and statistical approaches to build quantitative frameworks for (1) guiding assessment of the sex-specific proarrhythmic potential of new candidate drug compounds, and (2) informing the prospective design of novel anti-arrhythmic strategies. |
